ES1. Student Scholarship Poster Session

This session will be held from 9:30-11 a.m. in Room 3

The Georgia Environmental Conference is pleased to welcome four outstanding student finalists for this year’s student scholarship poster competition! In this session, each finalist will give a brief presentation on their poster and academic research project. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and interact with the students directly before they move to their poster displays in the main exhibit hall for the duration of the conference. Scholarship award recipients will be announced at the Thursday evening reception. This year’s finalists are:

ES2. EPA and Georgia Environmental Protection Division (GA EPD) Technical Assistance for Brownfields Communities

This session will be held from 9-11 a.m. in the Ben Porter Salon

Interested in EPA Brownfields Grant Funding or No Cost Technical Assistance? What is Brownfields Technical Assistance? GA Environmental Protection Division also provides technical support and financial incentives to those interested in Voluntary Brownfields Cleanup for Georgia sites. EPA has several programs for Brownfields Technical Assistance, including web-based, self-directed Technical Assistance for Brownfields Communities (TAB) at https://icma.org/programs-and-projects/icma-technical-assistance-brownfield-communities-tab-epa-region-4no-cost, Targeted Brownfields Assessments, where EPA technical consultants conduct Phase 1 and/or Phase 2 Environmental Assessments at no cost to eligible requestors for eligible sites, and Land Revitalization Technical Assistance, also at no cost, where EPA technical consultants provide a variety of needed technical assistance beyond the Phase 1 and Phase 2 Environmental Assessments. These Technical Assistance Options may help get your Brownfields Project started or help move your project to the next level! GA EPD Brownfields Coordinator Shannon Ridley will discuss the details of the GAEPD Voluntary Brownfields Program and share details of the application process and tax incentives for eligible Brownfields Properties in GA; David Hayes, EPA Brownfields Project Manager, will discuss the EPA Region 4 Targeted Brownfields Assessment Program; and Sherry Weedman will discuss the contractor’s role in the EPA Land Revitalization Technical Assistance (LRTA) Program. Details on the Georgia Brownfield Association will also be provided.
